North Island New Zealand
Plan your next annual holiday around the North Island New Zealand and you and your family could spend many happy days in New Zealands North visiting places like Wellington. New Zealand North Island has many historic sights and beautiful scenery that can be found in places like, Whangarei, (pronounced fung a ray) and is the northern most city of New Zealand, situated on the east coast. It is also considered the gateway to the Bay of Islands, with Paihia only a short drive away (less than 2 hours). This is where you and your family can enjoy day trips on the bay. Just a little further along the coast is Waitangi. Here you can visit the historic signing of the Waitangi Treaty and read some excerpts from this. You can also see the traditional New Zealand Maori and their buildings and artifacts.
If history is not your thing you can go on tours to more beautiful scenic places like Rotorua and visit the Hot Springs that they boast. You and your family can also learn how the Maori cook using these springs and they use them for most of their daily needs. There is even a village set up that you can wander through.
Or if it is just a touring holiday there are many towns at your fingertips, so to speak. You could go on a magical journey to places like Tauranga, Gisborne, Palmerston North, Hamilton and Taupo there are so many great places to see and things to do when you travel New Zealand. Not forgetting of course the many New Zealand Hotels that will extend to you and your family a very warm welcome and comfortable stay.
There are also many Tourist Information sites where you can obtain a New Zealand map and travel routes for the far north including areas like Cape Reinga which covers the northern tip of New Zealands North Island.
On the way to Northland you can take the time to stop and visit many of the lovely off shore islands near Auckland New Zealand. Most are just a short ferry ride away like Kawau Island, Great Barrier Island and Waiheke Island. Another trip could take you to New Plymouth located about 5-6 hours south of Auckland where you could stop at lovely Lake Taupo on the way and catch some more wonderful scenic beauty and wildlife photos. Or just a 2 hour drive away is Coromandel on the east coast of this wonderful area.
We must not forget the scenic area of the Bay of Plenty where there is more wonderful places to visit like the volcanic island of White Island accessed from the city of Whakatane (pronounced Fa-ka-ta-nee). On the way there you can stop in at Hells Gate for a look at one of the first Thermal Parks that became a tourist attraction. Yes, wonderful New Zealand.
